WLCG
Long-term Reliance on short-term Funding
Reliance on project-funded activities like EGI risk that support for key services could disappear or have no long term sustainability.
Such a situation would require replacement of a key service at short notice or to take on long-term support of something developed elsewhere.
Ensure that key services have long-term support commmitments within the WLCG collaboration. This is true today - the EGI services that we rely on all have WLCG institutes behind them that have confirmed commitment to support them for the entire WLCG collaboration even if the EGI (or future) funding was removed. This covers: GGUS, APEL, accounting portal, VOMS, etc.
Such support commitments have been re-iterated several times over the years. In addition, the move away from special grid services has helped.
