The global scientific security environment could change and break our federation (collaborative) trust model.
Effect
This would be very dispruptive to the operation and require a significant investment in changing the fundamental sharing and collaboration model.
Mitigation
Ensure our trust networks, policies, awareness are proactively adapting to the changing landscape. Continue to manage the strong coordination and trust networks between participants.

While this is a risk, it also also the case that many other sciences are adopting a similar global trust model. It is also the case that the trust we now have in place - both at the social level and through technical and policy implementation is actually a far more robust and secure situation than previously with isolated sites and activities and un-trusted partnerships. Information is shared and there is a very strong incident response coordination. Sites react rapidly to real and potential threats and share the information.
